All about rooting!

Zer0Navy

Welcome to Zer0Navy!!!

Many people keep asking themselves what root is, why do we root our android devices, prons and cons of rooting and if the root process is irreversible or not. Are you one of them??? Keep reading this because in here i'll simply tell you what you need to know about root and rooting as a process. Without any "bla bla's"

Root;

Is a part of a plant that attaches it to the ground or to a support. OR Is the basic cause,source,or origin of something.

Rooting;

Is the process of allowing users of android devices to attain privileged control(root access) over varios Android subsystems hence, giving access to administrative(superuser) permissions. Although root access is sometimes compared to jailbreaking in apple ios OS, they quite differ.(Jailbreaking bypass several types of apple prohibitions for the end user e.g locked bootloader that prevents installations of non-official apps while android has no locked bootloader hence, root can result even to replacement of OS.)

Reasons for root;

Root is usually done with the basic goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hadware manufacturers put on some devices hence,gaining full control. Therefore, users root their android devices so as to make them more helpful and useful in their own point of view, accessing what a normal android user can't.

Prons & Cons;

Prons.
  1. Rooting frees Android phone from the clutches of the carrier if not yet unlocked.
  2. Rooting allows installations of Unofficial and better versions of android OS if no official updates are made for your Android phone.
  3. Rooting allows uninstallation of bloatware or stock apps pre-installed by manufactures or your carrier.
  4. Rooting allows you to move apps to SD card without cramping the phone's internal storage.
  5. Rooting enable one to fully personalize and customize more useful OS on their android devices together with the devices' interface with cool themes,widgets....e.t.c.
  6. Rooting makes android devices faster than manufactured when users decide to overclock their devices' kernel.
  7. Rooting can make android devices supercharged as users can limit background apps or install CPU controller apps.
  8. Rooting allows a user to backup anything and everything like data,apps and settings ,without limits, to the SD card or the cloud. Apps like Titanium Backup can do that.
Cons.
  1. Voiding phone's warranty.
  2. Bricking and abnormal functioning of your phone if it wasn't done properly.
  3. OS updates are to be received from OTA rather than the phone's manufacturer otherwise it will unroot your device.
  4. Overheating of your phone when you decide to make it faster than it was intended by the manufacturer.
  5. Causes security breech as it exposes android devices to more security ricks. Users are required to control the security vulnerability of their devices.

Is it irreversible?

No, rooting process is a temporal action not permanent hence, it is 99.99% reversible. An android user can undo rooting anytime necessary on a rooted android device.
